Pic attached: Member for Bega visits with residents in Towamba to announce road funding

Towamba and Burragate Roads will receive a road maintenance blitz, thanks to a $10 million boost secured by Bega MP Andrew Constance.

Mr Constance said this road sealing project will be life changing for Towamba and Burragate residents and I am so pleased the funding required is now committed to get on and get it done.

Work will include sealing/resealing, pavement stabilisation, new guardrail and drainage and will ensure the safe journey for all road users including local families travelling to Towamba Public School and into Eden for work.

“This funding boost will dramatically improve the safety and drivability of twenty-seven kilometres worth of road,” Mr Constance said.

“No longer will cars be subjected to damage from rough roads and residents fears about emergency services or allied health services not being able to access them in adverse conditions will be alleviated.

“Having listened to the community, there was a real concern regarding the current state of Towamba and Burragate roads, and I’m glad I’m able to deliver these vital safety upgrades that will make life easier for local families”

“Once complete, the sealed roads will also improve connections between key freight and industry hubs such as silos, logging operations, industrial parks and depots not only in Towamba and Burragate but throughout the entire south west region of NSW.

“The project will improve connectivity between local and regional roads to state highways, including the Princes Highway, reducing travel times, improving safety and lowering costs for local businesses”
