Member for Bega Andrew Constance has welcomed more than $32,000 in NSW Government funding for the refurbishment of Bemboka Memorial Hall.

Mr Constance said the project would see a new kitchen installed to support the community during emergencies and weekly event programs.

“The hall is an evacuation centre for emergencies such as storms, floods and fires.

“The project will include new stainless steel bench tops, shelving, an extraction fan, flyscreens and new cooking and kitchen equipment.

“After visiting the hall and seeing firsthand the current facilities, this funding will make a massive difference to the many users of the community hall and those needing refuge in times of emergencies,” Mr Constance said.

“Over the past 2 years, Bemboka has had some fantastic community projects funded and this now adds to their list.

“The Bemboka Men’s Shed received a $25,000 boost following a Community Building Partnership Grant being awarded in January and in excess of $80,000 has now been awarded to the Bemboka Showground Trust for works to be undertaken to improve facilities and access at the Showground.

“It is great to see our smaller rural and regional areas getting their fair share of funding and I look forward to seeing the results as these projects evolve,” Mr Constance said.

“Over $50 million in Clubgrants infrastructure funding is being provided in the current term of government for projects across sport and recreation, emergency preparedness, and arts and culture.

“These grants are funded through a rebate on the state’s registered clubs’ gaming machines to reinvest profits back into community projects.

“This is a fantastic funding program that has seen many local projects funded, it opens up greater opportunity to applicants by giving community organisations more chances to apply for a wider range of projects,” Mr Constance said.
