SUMMER SCHOOL MAINTENANCE BLITZ FOR BEGA VALLEY SCHOOLS

Member for Bega Andrew Constance today advised that more than $604,743 will be spent on school maintenance projects in the Bega Valley over the summer holiday period.

Mr Constance said that Wolumla, Towamba, Tathra, Tanja, Quaama, Bermagui and Bega Valley Public Schools, along with Bega High School would be the first of our local schools to have work undertaken.

“Bega Valley Public School $280,335, Bermagui Public School $116,231, Towamba Public School $47,989, Tanja Public School $38,828 and Quaama Public School $30,643 for roofing works to be carried out.

“Wolumla Public School $2,835, for painting works and Bega High School $72,680 and Tathra Public School $15,202 for painting and roofing works, to be undertaken. 

“This maintenance work will be a welcomed investment in our local schools and I am pleased to see works commencing,” Mr Constance said.

“Every child deserves to have access to great facilities, wonderful teachers and get an excellent education and that is what we are delivering for students.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said this program is another example of how this Government is committed to public education and delivering local infrastructure to support communities right across NSW.

“Just like your family home, there are always jobs to be done to keep our schools in top condition,” Mr Stokes said.

“We are making good use of the summer break to carry out important projects while students are off enjoying their holidays.

“With a $25 billion property portfolio of 2,200 schools there will always be maintenance to be done, but good management will keep the list as short as possible, and we are here doing just that.”

The summer holiday blitz is part of the NSW Government’s record $747 million school maintenance investment over the next four years announced in the 2017 Budget, allowing each and every school across the State to have their maintenance project lists slashed by December 2018.
